Subject: Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week Social Media Campaign

Hello everyone I wanted to follow up on our Graduate Student Life task force discussion on Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week. The Division of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications Office, in collaboration with Graduate Studies, has developed a social media campaign to celebrate this special week scheduled for April 4-8. We have invited other areas of the university to join us in celebrating the important impact graduate and professional students have on our campus community.

For this campaign, we have created a Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week graphic that we plan to post on social media on April 4 (attached). We have also created graphics that any FSU department can easily modify to showcase graduate students (links below). We plan to develop unique posts for Gradate Assistants who work in our VP of Student Affairs Office and we are encouraging other areas to do the same. We invite you to use these Appreciation Week graphics to help amplify grads’ contributions at FSU. Please use #fsugradstudents in the social media captions so we can keep track of the campaign’s reach.

I have also been in touch with University Communications about helping write and distribute a news release about the week. In my research<http://nagps.org/about-us/gpsa-week/> I found that an FSU alum helped start the appreciation week in 1993 and so it seems this could be a part of the story in addition to already having a State of Florida Proclamation for the week.

Our hope is that this celebration will continue to grow and that events will be added to this as soon as next year.  Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
