[Fla-facrlboard] 2019 FACRL Annual Program outline and title proposal

Good afternoon all,

Our conference committee Chairs (Lisa Campbell, UF & Cristy Moran, BC) have met and we have two new committee nominees/volunteers for this year’s conference program committee: Stephanie Bird and Diana Matthews. We still need one more member for the Conference Program Committee if anyone knows of a good candidate.

The winner of our poll of the FACRL membership for the conference theme this year was:


  *   “Innovations for Higher Ed (Challenge and Change to Traditional Services; Open Access and OERs; Copyright; Technological Innovations; New models for Data Management)”

Here is the proposed title and outline from Lisa and Cristy for the annual program:

Title: Innovations for Next Generation Libraries

Description/ CFP working draft:

Pilots. Beta tests. Initiatives. [A sentence about our libraries adapting to changes in higher education/ our institutions.]

How are our libraries engaging in our campus conversations and innovations surrounding these issues? FACRL invites proposals for our Annual Program in formats including 45-minute presentations, panel discussions, and poster sessions.

  *   Break
  *   15-min: Poster session A
  *   Break
  *   45-min presentation + Q&A period: Breakout sessions B

  *   Break
  *   Time ???: Panel/ lightning round
  *   Closing
Program Committee First Meeting: May 6th

* Please note: We were careful with the language to not specify “Librarians” in the title this year, a request we had received last year in an effort to better communicate that this is an inclusive conference.

Does the Board have any feedback or recommendations for this title and outline moving forward? Do these session formats and proposed breaks match some of the proposed changes and suggestions we had discussed? Any and all ideas, edits, suggestions, and brutal criticisms are most welcome.
