[Fla-facrlboard] Coffee sponsorship at FLA

Sounds like FLA sponsorships might be tricky this year. Maybe we could table before the opening session or in with the vendors on opening night? Sort of like ACRL always has a booth in the exhibits hall? We could take turns running it perhaps.

Some additional information as I am the Chair of the FLA Conference Committee this year, there isn't an FLA Sponsorships Committee and this year sponsorships are being completely handled by the FLA Office and not the conference committee at all.

I think that the coffee break is an important session for FACRL and having visibility at the beginning of the FLA Annual conference to network has, I believe, been well received in past years.

Last year, one piece of feedback that we received was that there was not very much time for the coffee break before the opening FLA conference program. I want to say that it was maybe an hour before attendees were asked to file in to the program hall? Also, wasn’t the $500 fee last year a mark-up from previous years?

So, I guess my concern is that unlike vendors, we are representing the state academic association at the state library association’s annual conference. It is not only a lot of the same membership from another division of the same national professional organization, but I think that we promote and add a lot of value to the FLA conference itself.

This is maybe a long way of suggesting that we reach out to the FLA sponsorships committee and ask them about a different rate and type of collaboration for other professional library organizations. For example, we could help sponsor or promote a plug for FLA at the FACRL Annual program. What do you all think?
