[Coe-grad] Summer 2019 Graduation Application Closes on May 31 - Important

College of Education Graduate Students,

Good morning! Are you completing your graduate degree requirements in Summer 2019? If so, you must apply online for graduation prior to the May 31 graduation application deadline, even if you do not intend to attend the summer 2019 Commencement Ceremony.

May 20 – May 31, 2019 is the application period for summer 2019 graduation. Please note: Participation in a Commencement Ceremony<https://registrar.fsu.edu/graduation/ceremony/> is not the same as degree conferral.

Apply Online for Graduation
1.      Login at my.fsu.edu<http://my.fsu.edu/>.
2.      Under myFSU Links on the left-hand side of the screen, click the SC icon.
3.      Under the Academics area, click the drop-down box arrow and select Apply for Graduation.
4.      For further instructions, visit http://www.sc.my.fsu.edu/Students/How-To/Apply-to-Graduate.

If you have not been set as “eligible for graduation” by the Registrar’s Office and/or you cannot access the application link in my.fsu.edu, please contact the Graduation Office directly at graduation at fsu.edu<mailto:graduation at fsu.edu> or 644-5850 for assistance, prior to the May 31 application deadline.

If you are applying for degree conferral for summer 2019, please note the following:


  *   Friday, August 2, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. – Summer 2019 Commencement Ceremony for the College of Education.
  *   Participation in a Commencement Ceremony is not a guarantee of degree conferral.
  *   August 29, 2019 – Summer 2019 degrees available on transcripts (NO exceptions).

Other Important Reminders:

  *   MS Thesis-track and doctoral candidates* must have a Prospectus Clearance Form, approved by the academic dean, on file in OASIS to be eligible for degree conferral. *The doctoral dissertation Prospectus Clearance Form must be approved by the academic dean at least four months prior to the dissertation defense date.
  *   Doctoral candidates are required to register for a minimum two (2) semester hours of dissertation every term, including summer. International students and students on graduate assistantships may have greater requirements. Please contact your advisor for questions.
  *   Thesis students and doctoral candidates are required to register for a minimum two (2) semester hours of thesis or dissertation in the semester of degree conferral. You must also register for the thesis/dissertation defense in the semester in which this requirement is completed.
  *   All exams (comprehensive, preliminary, etc.) and all defenses require registration – contact your department for details.
  *   Summer 2019 Thesis and Dissertation Manuscript Clearance deadlines are found at https://gradschool.fsu.edu/academics-research/thesis-treatise-and-dissertation.
