Hi All,
Following up on Anne's email, our Spring '26 Simple Syllabus completion rates are as follows:
*
25 input/approved
*
2 in-process
*
40 not yet begun
Again, all instructors (faculty, adjuncts, GA's) must enter their own class/classes, and the deadline is this SUNDAY, March 1st. As participation is now the law, the university has telegraphed that there will be ramifications for not getting this done. Lack of submission will be considered an HR issue, one handled well above the departmental level. I sincerely do not want this for anyone, so please get your Simple Syllabi submitted.
If your class/classes are among the 42 not yet input/approved, I strongly recommend attending the Simple Syllabus Workshop that Assoc. Dean Sara Shields is hosting:
Simple Syllabus Drop-In Workshop
Thursday, February 26, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
WJB 2040
You don't need to be there the entire time, and if you attend and find it helpful (it will be), please consider thanking Sara. She is definitely not an advocate for Simple Syllabus, but she is the only Assoc. Dean I've heard of planning and hosting these workshops in order to aid faculty/instructors in getting their syllabi submitted.
Thanks,
Jeff

Subject: Re: [Art-faculty] 2/26 Simple Syllabus Drop-In Workshop
Hello everyone,
Thank you to those who have already entered your classes into Simple Syllabus. For those who have not yet done so, please make it a priority to get your class entered into simple syllabus this week. The hard deadline is Sunday and I seem to recall mention that there will be consequences for not meeting the deadline. I can’t remember what exactly - if the department gets dinged, if the instructor is dinged, if it is financial, etc - but it is a deadline that the university is paying attention to closely. Please do your part.
Each instructor has to enter their own class (lecture, discussion, or lab) into the simple syllabus system. There are online tutorials but easiest way is to attend the simple syllabus workshop on Thursday at WJB. We still have many outstanding classes to enter, so please make sure you set aside time to make this happen asap.
Many thanks,
Anne

You are strongly encouraged to join Associate Dean Sara Scott Shields for a Simple Syllabus drop-in workshop. Stop by at any time during this window, and be sure to bring your syllabus from your spring courses so we can review and update directly in the system.
Use of Simple Syllabus is now mandated by the University and is not optional. Sara will be available to assist with academic questions related to syllabus language, required components, and more. Colleagues from ODL will be on hand to provide technical support within the Simple Syllabus platform.
