[Art-instructors] Semester Conclusion

Hi All,


Given the flurry of emails this past holiday weekend, I want to ensure all have been brought up to speed on what's most important moving forward.


According to the Provost, as instructors you have 3 options for how to handle this last week of classes:


  1.  In-person (with a remote option for students unable to attend)

  2.
Fully Remote - synchronous or asynchronous
  3.
Other - for courses that must meet specific disciplinary accreditation or disciplinary requirements, instructors should work closely with their department chair or dean.

Lastly, the Provost also wrote that if your students have assignments, projects, papers, or presentations that were due last week or the early part of this week, you may extend due dates or make them optional, where possible and appropriate.


According to the Provost, all students have 3 options to choose from regarding how they want to handle the rest of the semester - all of which need to be honored:


  1.  Students can earn the grade that they have now. This means that no additional assessments will be offered other than making up a previously missed exam or assignment. (If your gradebooks aren't up to date, please prioritize doing so now. This will both allow them to make a decision and likely avoid potential headaches for you later.)

  2.
Students can finish the course, including any remaining assessments through finals. Should you require a final exam, the final exam grade is only to be counted if it improves the student’s course grade.
  3.
Students may receive an incomplete for the semester. Be mindful that some students may be graduating this semester. Students with questions should be directed to June and Jordan before they making a final decision.
