Dear Stephanie -

I'm a new faculty member at FSU this year in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics and my research is on African comics. I'm writing to see if you or any faculty in your department would be interested in working together to organize a workshop for faculty and students with a guest artist, Pat Masioni, that I'm bringing to campus in the fall as part of a Winthrop-King Institute event I am co-organizing in November on Congolese literature, music, and art (the first in a series I'm developing entitled, "Global Africas"). I've attached the short description for the event to this email. Pat Masioni has been making comics for a long time now and he has conducted many workshops.

The program for the 1.5 day event is rather fluid for the moment, but I'm hoping to put together a workshop with Masioni for faculty and graduate and undergraduate students. I'm hoping to build more connections across disciplines. To that end, I'd appreciate if you would share this information with any and all colleagues and students that you think would find it interesting and have them contact me. We intend for all events to be open to the public and thus, we will have people available to translate if need be for all events.
