[Seuce-cci] Developmental vs Acquired?

Hi, Everyone,
Has anyone got materials or a presentation they could share to explain the
differences in clinical services between neurodevelopmental and acquired
conditions? While these usually align with pediatric and adult, they don't
always. SLPs work with adults who have neurodevelopmental conditions and
with children who have medical conditions. Sometimes adults have both or
children have both!
We've got some exciting new programs happening which bring new
opportunities for collaboration. It has also created an opportunity to
provide some education around these terms for decision-makers and
collaborators. We'd like to explain how dividing our services into a binary
choice of pediatric or adult, and equating that with developmental or
medical, can cause problems on the front lines. We want to inform language
like 'that's the kid's/pediatric clinic' and 'that's the adult clinic' or
"Those clinicians work with kids and those work with adults".
And we'd love to not recreate the wheel if someone else already has!
Thank you,
Jennifer
