Dear FSU researchers,

After looking further into this, the FDOH’s James and Esther King Program, Bella Initiative, and Bankhead-Coley Program are in fact not limited submissions opportunities.

While the solicitation indicates on pg. 23 that eligible applicants can submit either one or two applications per program, the term “applicant” here apparently refers to the individual PI, not the organization.

If you are interested in applying for these programs, you will not need approval from FSU Research Development.  We hope you will consider pursuing these valuable grant opportunities on your own.

To repeat, letters of intent are required and due to the agency by Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 12noon ET.

The Bella Initiative provides grants for research to further the search for cures for pediatric cancer, by pursuing goals to significantly expand pediatric cancer research capacity in Florida, improve both research and treatment through greater pediatric enrollment in clinical trials networks, and reduce the impact and burden of pediatric cancer on Floridians.

The Bankhead-Coley Program provides research grants to advance progress toward cures for cancer, by pursuing goals to significantly expand cancer research capacity in Florida, improve both research and treatment through greater participation in clinical trials networks, and reduce the impact of cancer on disparate groups.

These funding opportunities have been released on a very tight timeline.  Required letters of intent are due to the agency by Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 12noon ET.  (Full applications are due Oct. 13 at 12noon ET.)

Due to the tight timeline, FSU is now launching “Accelerated Limited Submissions” internal competitions to determine which PIs may submit to each program on behalf of the university.
