Dear ISL Faculty Affiliates, Advisory Board Members, and Community Partners,

I am delighted to announce that Dr. Julia Sheffler has been appointed Associate Director for Clinical and Translational Research for the Institute for Successful Longevity (ISL), following unanimous endorsement from ISL faculty affiliates and advisory board members.

Dr. Sheffler is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Translational Behavioral Science at the FSU College of Medicine, where she directs the Integrative Science for Healthy Aging Program. A clinical psychologist and board-certified geropsychologist, her research focuses on promoting healthy aging and reducing risk for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias through behavioral and lifestyle interventions, with particular interests in nutrition, cognitive health, resilience, and health behavior change. Her work spans clinical trials, community-based research, and interdisciplinary collaborations across behavioral science, medicine, nutrition, and other areas of aging research.

Julia also has a long history with ISL. She has been an ISL Faculty Affiliate since 2018, currently chairs the ISL Clinical Research Working Group, has received ISL pilot funding, and has collaborated extensively with ISL investigators and students. Her research program has been supported by the Florida Department of Health, NIH and other organizations, and she currently leads a state-funded project developing a scalable Mediterranean-ketogenic nutrition intervention for older adults at risk for dementia.

In her new role, Julia will provide leadership to strengthen ISL's clinical and translational research infrastructure, foster interdisciplinary collaborations, expand student research and training opportunities, enhance participant recruitment resources, strengthen partnerships with FSU Health and community organizations, and help our investigators pursue collaborative external funding.

Julia has already made substantial contributions to ISL and to aging research at FSU. I am very excited to have her join our leadership team and look forward to working with her as we continue to expand ISL's research impact.

Please join me in congratulating Julia and welcoming her to this new role!

Warm Regards,
