[Isl] Vote for New Associate Director

Hello and good morning ISL Faculty Affiliates and JAB Members,

As you all know, this is Dr. Boot's last week as ISL's Associate Director. While we wish him a warm goodbye, we would also like your vote on a new Associate Director for ISL. We have been speaking about Lynn Panton, Ph. D., stepping into the role of Director. While we wait to hear from the Provost's Office on filling that position, we would like your vote on her addition as the Associate Director for ISL.

Dr. Lynn Panton is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Integrative Physiology here at FSU. She is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Panton's research interests are in strength training and the effects on the physiological measurements of strength, blood pressure, cholesterol, body composition, and functional outcomes of healthy elderly adults and chronically diseased populations. Her recent research has focused on the effects of strength training in women breast cancer survivors. She received her BS from Emory University, and MSESS and Ph.D. from University of Florida. Dr. Panton's CV is attached for your review and we have included the ISL Goals below to remind you of what drives ISL as you make your vote.

To understand the mechanisms of age-associated disorders and functional and cognitive declines.

To develop the best holistic interventions to counter those declines.

To disseminate this knowledge to the community, to aging adults and to their care-givers.

To cultivate the scientific, social, and political leadership on this issue that will engage the nation.
