Hi Folks:

We can apparently apply for RRF funding from more than one department at FSU. See below for clarification.

Best, Neil

Good afternoon, Neil and David,

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19 delays, RRF has decided not to review the spring cycle grants until the fall cycle deadline. So our spring cycle PI Lucinda Graven will by default become the fall cycle PI.

Good news: According to the RFP, "Organizations may submit only one proposal or Letter of Inquiry per grant cycle. Common exceptions include proposals submitted by separate departments of large universities." https://www.rrf.org/apply-for-a-grant/research-grants/

We are currently past the internal deadline but may be able to accommodate additional PIs IF they meet the above exception. So, if anyone you know is interested, please have them contact me ASAP, so I can seek confirmation as to whether they can move forward.

All the best,
Evangeline

Good afternoon, Neil,

Sounds good. So you know, the slot for the May 1st LOI cycle is taken. FSU is allowed to submit one LOI per cycle. The next cycle is due externally on August 1st, and internally June 1st. So if you think there will be a lot of interest, please encourage those interested to submit a pre-proposal to us before June 1st: https://www.research.fsu.edu/limitedsubmission.

Have a great day!

Evangeline

Thanks for clarifying. Last RRF notice I circulated to ISL affiliates about RRF reminded them to check with Evangeline to make sure that not more than one was being submitted. Best, Neil

Neil,

Likely (cc'd.) , unless there will be only one applicant. That said, it also depends on what the application will entail (e.g., human subjects, etc.) In that case, it will have to run through one of the Research Foundation folks (Julie Coiro, Laura Dunham, or Tracie Blackwood). So, I would start with Evangeline if you know that there will/may be more than one interested party. She will then loop in whomever you will ultimately work with on the actual proposal thereafter.

Hope that helps.

David

Hi David:

Should we be coordinating with you or Evangeline Ciupek on this (or both)? Best, Neil

Neil,

Good morning. Hope you're well, all things considered.

The Retirement Research Foundation (now RRF Foundation) has revamped their funding interests, though they remain quite similar to the previous ones. The "new" areas are caregiving, economic security in later life, hosing, and social and intergenerational connectedness. They are accepting applications for the Aug. 2020 proposal deadline and are looking for 1-3 page LOIs. They evaluate them and all other parts of an application by looking plans for implementation, process, and outcomes (please see the evaluation guidelines for more information - https://www.rrf.org/apply-for-a-grant/application-info-tips/evaluation-guidelines/<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/nam01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https*3A*2F*2Furldefense.com*2Fv3*2F__https*3A*2Fwww.rrf.org*2Fapply-for-a-grant*2Fapplication-info-tips*2Fevaluation-guidelines*2F__*3B!!PhOWcWs!iIr84d3PainPW9QXGP3Jbrts33qCKsMqm8Uas_P-dMAsEoanRIATLpueX7R4VT-sTrE*24&data=02*7C01*7Cdlipten*40foundation.fsu.edu*7Cff1dd2e9cde04f9dbe6f08d7e6e85d8e*7C92acbb4de6d24e85a77671e615222e90*7C0*7C0*7C637231758004628212&sdata=ovJ*2FoMXssPXLdncfv1ZAoae5l3HXRsaqTxm36kuc3oA*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSU!!PhOWcWs!k7jsyjNRJ7xqDkDOu4FIKYl7_VuXU1bMAUEsjDUNCEHnrnCSsz5U2gzvcCHXFeJ07A4$>).

What hasn't changed is that they only will accept one proposal per institution. So, if there are more than one interested party, this will have to go through a limited submission process. There are exceptions when proposals come from different departments, however. They also continue to allow for a 10% indirect cost scheme. But, if there are any indirect costs in any budget, then the application will have to go through the Research Foundation.
