An important message from FSU Office of Human Resources

This message has been approved by Shelley Lopez, Program Director, Communications/Special Projects, for distribution to all Department Representatives.
Department Representatives and Hiring Managers
In alignment with the University's repopulation initiative, 2021 Summer Camps may occur in person following federal, state, local, and University health and safety guidelines<https://coronavirus.hr.fsu.edu/covid-19-workplace-guidance>. To ensure compliance with state-required background checks, please review the guidance and links provided below.
2021 Summer Camp Background Checks
Unlike FSU's typical background checks, summer camp background checks are conducted and adjudicated by The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) through a state-run, web-based system called the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse ("Clearinghouse"). DCF Summer Camp Background Checks are mandated by Florida Statute 409.175<http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?mode=View%20Statutes&SubMenu=1&App_mode=Display_Statute&Search_String=409.175&URL=0400-0499/0409/Sections/0409.175.html>. They require all new and returning summer camp personnel (owners, operators, administrative staff, employees, and volunteers) to be screened and determined eligible by DCF via a Level 2 Fingerprint-based Background Check.
Summer Camps held virtually still require a background check due to the live virtual interaction. Please coordinate with the HR Background Check Team to submit the Summer Camp Roster appropriately.
The Summer Camp Page on the Background Check Website<https://hr.fsu.edu/?page=ers/bgc/15-summer-background-checks> provides a detailed guide on initiating Summer Camp Background Checks, including forms, exemptions, and timelines to process Summer Camp Background Checks more efficiently. All Summer Camp Candidate DCF Clearinghouse Forms have been updated. Please replace all previously saved versions with the 2021 versions.
Required Summer Camp documents must be submitted to The Office of Human Resources Background Check Team via Dropbox<https://dropbox.fsu.edu/> to hr-ers at fsu.edu<mailto:HR-ERS at FSU.EDU> no later than 30 days before the anticipated start dates to ensure the timely processing of DCF Summer Camp Background Checks.
Office of Human Resources Fingerprinting Office
To help facilitate Summer Camp hiring and other required fingerprinting, the Office of Human Resources Fingerprinting Office will reopen on March 15, 2021, for limited days and by appointment only. We anticipate returning to full operations for walk-in customers on May 3, 2021. The HR Fingerprinting Office offers fingerprinting services for FSU employment and volunteer service; however, we cannot provide fingerprinting services for outside employment or licensure.
