FSU is seeking qualified applicants for the director of the Science on 
the Move position in the Office of STEM Teaching Activities (College of 
Arts & Sciences). This is a highly responsible position that specializes 
in teaching research-based physical science lessons throughout Leon 
County and the surrounding region. The Science Teaching Program Director 
will direct theScience-on-the-Move 
outreachvanprograminPhysicalScienceforK-12studentsandteachers which 
includes instruction 
ofresearch-basedphysicalsciencecurriculainK-12classrooms in coordination 
with the OfficeofSTEM TeachingActivities(OSTA)on 
programscheduling,equipment,andsuppliesneeds. The Program Director will 
proposeenhancementsandimprovementstotheprogram as well as new lessonsand 
will be responsible for 
theirimplementationfollowingdiscussionwithOSTAandappropriatesciencedepartment 
faculty.

Duties related directly to teaching will include designing or 
refiningcurricula, K-12 classroom teaching  in physical science, and 
occasionally leading teacher in-service workshopsinresearch-based 
physicalscienceinstructionaswelltheuseofsciencevanactivities.Administrative 
responsibilities include full direction of the program and monitoring 
science van expenses. This position will also collect evaluation 
information 
ontheeffectivenessofindividualScience-on-the-Moveactivitiesandon the 
program’soveralleffectiveness.


During the summers, the incumbent will work withtheYoung 
ScholarsProgram(FSU'sresidentialsummerscienceandmathematicscampforhigh-schoolstudents). 
Additional duties will include 
coordinationoftheArtsandSciencessponsoredportionsoftheCapitalRegionalScienceFair 
(coordinationofthestudentregistrationand facilities set-up 
aspectsofthefair).
