[Fla-facrlboard] Conference Variations - An Idea

Good afternoon, all.

Earlier today I was a panelist on a conference I would typically never have attended (Eastern Sociological Society) as a co-panelist. Anyway, I thought the pre-conference where we presented was the only panelist set up but it seems like their entire conference is panels!

I’m attaching the program so you can see what I mean. What it looks like is that there are long sessions and in those sessions at least a couple of presentations are done (20 mins each) then a moderated discussion on the broader topic is engaged.

Since we had put on the agenda that we would consider options for the 2021 conference and I Had never seen this type of conference before I figured I could share it with you all to perhaps consider more than just one type of presentation. I know we had tried some alternative presentation styles before and this could be something to consider as well.

I plan on attending some of the other sessions (if I can) since I was given access to registration and I can report my findings. For my own experience, I found it really engaging and low-pressure.
