[Fla-facrlboard] Idea for a Webinar Series

Dear FACRL board colleagues,



I have an exciting proposal for you and plan to put this on the next board agenda.  But I wanted to give you some information first, so I don't take up too much of your time.



As you know, Sandy Avila and I were on the taskforce to plan the FACRL preconference to the 2020 FLA Conference which was rescheduled online for this month, Oct 28-29 and is scheduled for in-person, May 19 -21, 2021.



Due to the uncertainty of COVID, and the opportunity to try something new, we would like to propose an Online Spring Webinar series instead.



If the board approves and would like us to pursue this, Rachel and Sandy are willing propose the idea to Karen Layton at FLA and convene a taskforce.



FACRL /FLA Spring Webinar Series,  January - April 2021

  *   Free to FACRL or FLA members.  $10 for non-members.  (Based on previous FLA webinars Rachel has hosted.)
  *   Feature topics of interest to academic libraries.
  *   Same time every month.  Tentative dates:

     *   Thursday, January 21, 3pm - 4pm.
     *   Thursday, February 18, 3pm -4pm.
     *   Thursday, March 18, 3pm - 4pm.
     *   Thursday, April 15, 3pm - 4pm.

Pros:

  *   Online event would be sustainable in case a COVID spike interrupts the FLA in-person conference.
  *   Ongoing series of events will increase visibility and branding for both FLA and FACRL throughout the year.
  *   Increased partnership between FLA and FACRL.
  *   the FLA Academic Instruction and Information Literacy (AI & IL) interest group is interested in partnering (more efficient workflow and less overlap between statewide initiatives).
  *   Rachel has hosted 3 Webinars with FLA over the years featuring nationally recognized speakers and has worked with Karen Layton on scheduling and promotion.   *   Spring 2021 could feature speakers already pre-selected for the cancelled pre-conference from last Spring.
