[Fla-facrlboard] Possible FACRL Conference Themes

I like all three themes and each seems quite relevant.

I think #3 Innovations for Higher Ed offers the most opportunity for sessions and posters. Even combining #2 and #3 would work: Innovation & Impact.

#1 is definitely an important need in my opinion but I don’t think it translates to sessions for a one-day conference as well as the others.  However, I think it would be a great idea to put together a year-long campaign on helping FACRL members (and potential members) through shared content of webinars, articles, and other resources relating to Professionalism in Academic Libraries.

Good afternoon,

Cristy and I have brainstormed some ideas for this year’s conference theme and I thought it might be good for us to choose something as a Board so that we can have something to post to the site as well as place into a call for the programming committee.

We mined these from last year’s assessments/feedback and organized the ones we liked best into three categories. We can further polish whichever theme that the Board might choose into a working conference program title/theme:


  1.  Professionalism in Academic Libraries
     *   leadership skills
     *   day-to-day best practices
     *   mentorship
     *   succession planning
     *   team cohesion & morale
  2.  Library Impact
     *   service design
     *   assessment of library resources & services
     *   institutional & community engagement
  3.  Innovations for Higher Ed
     *   challenge & change to traditional services
     *   open access & OERs
     *   copyright
     *   technological innovations
     *   new models for data management
I appreciate any feedback, edits, or suggestions you might have. We could certainly explore other options if you already have a theme in mind and would be willing to share.
