Dear FACRL members:

The board has investigated transitioning our organization from 501c6 to 501c3 status.  While both statuses are tax-exempt, 501c3 status would allow us to provide individual donors with a tax deduction and allow us to accept foundation grants.  It also requires us to disburse any excess revenue in the form of charitable donations, such as scholarships.

We are ready to move forward with the necessary filing, but before we do so, we need to poll our membership to confirm that this is the will of the majority of our members.  Please go to the poll at (address) and indicate your vote by November 15.

We did say we would run this past the membership for a vote.  I’m happy to write the message and send members to a poll.  We need to limit the message to members-only; is this something we could do directly within WA?  There’s not much complexity here, unlike the post-conference survey and elections.
