Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, non-tenure track
Systems Librarian and Librarian Assistant Professor faculty position in the Department of
Library Resources which begins December 2019.

Distinguishing Features of this Position:

The Kennesaw State University Library System invites applications from new librarians to serve
as a Systems Librarian. The Kennesaw State University Library System seeks a collegial,
dynamic, flexible, service-oriented, and collaborative entry-level librarian for this open position.
KSU is a multi-campus library system and this person is a member of the Department of
Resource Management inside the Technical Services Department, under the direct supervision of the Head of Systems.

This position will provide support for Alma (the KSU library system's ILS), the library's
webpage, the library's authentication system, library databases, and other library systems as
needed.

We seek a librarian who embraces the library's collaborative organizational culture and will
work to learn and develop professionally. The successful candidate will have a keen sense of the evolving role of the challenges of today's complex higher education library in the digital age.

This candidate will need to strive to provide innovation in the workplace, participate in data
driven decision-making and provide excellence in library services and collections. They will
work to provide support for student success by ensuring that library systems are maintained and enhanced for efficient access to library resources and virtual library support to assist in student success and meet the University's commitment to student recruitment, retention, progression, and graduation.

The home location for this position is the Marietta Campus; however, this individual will be
expected to spend time working at the Kennesaw Campus and may travel to other KSU sites as
necessary. This position requires working a minimum of 40 hours a week and a flexible
schedule, including some nights and weekends, as needed.

Major Responsibilities:

Librarianship (90 %)

1.Helps to update, maintain, and troubleshoot library online systems in partnership with other
members of the systems team.

2.Triages systems work, including maintenance issues and enhancement or implementation
projects.

3.Collaborates with Kennesaw State University's UITS department and the University System of
Georgia's GALILEO support staff in order to enhance library systems for student success.

4.Serves as an undergraduate faculty liaison. Performs subject specific professional work
including library instruction to undergraduate students, faculty outreach, and collection
development.

5.Provide research assistance (in person, via chat, or other communication modes) to students
and other members of the KSU community.

6.Utilize excellent communication and problem-solving skills to work effectively within a
culturally diverse community of library users and colleagues.

Service (5%)

Perform KSU Library System service, KSU University service, or professional service for an
average of approximately 60 hours annually for 5% of duties.

Scholarship (5%)

Participate in negotiating scholarship, research, and/or creative activity with your supervisor at
appropriate rank. Contributes to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications. Produce annual evidence that scholarship, research, and/or creative activity has been professionally published or shared.

Required Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program
or the foreign equivalent.

2. Demonstrated exceptional written, oral, presentation, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate appropriately within, and outside of, the library.

3. Aptitude for detailed work in addition to strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

4. Ability to meet library faculty standards for job performance, scholarship, service, and
professional development at the Library Assistant Professor rank.

5. Creativity in problem solving and enthusiasm for self-directed study.

6. Working knowledge of Office suite applications including spreadsheets.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Experience with the Ex Libris Alma.

2. Experience with Springshare products.

3. Experience with website maintenance and support, including HTML, CSS, and PHP.

4. Experience working in a consortia environment with a shared ILS.

5. Experience in an academic library working in an online service-related position.

6. Experience working with other library systems, including ILLiad and Ares.

7. Experience with identity and access management services or a proxy server

8. Experience working collaboratively with multiple constituencies, including, but not limited to
students, instructional faculty, university staff, and librarian peers. Ability to function effectively
in a team environment.
