[Eoas-seminar] Three important new dedicated rooms for all EOAS members

EOAS Colleagues,

Following the guidance of the EOAS DEI Committee and EOAS Building Committee, we are pleased to announce three specifically dedicated new rooms in our building that are accessible to everyone in EOAS.

The rooms, their locations, and intended uses, are as follows below.

Room 2031:  Safe Space

This room can be used as space free of bias, conflict, criticism, or potentially threatening actions, ideas, or conversations. There is a phone in the room for local calls and multiple resources in print form in the room that users are also welcome to add to.

Room 2041:  Interfaith / Reflection Room

This room is offered for private reflection or private religious use. Two yoga mats and battery-powered LED candles are available for users of the room.

Room 5010:  Lactation Room

This is a lockable room for lactation use. The nearby lounge in 5025 has a refrigerator if needed. The key for the room can be found at the entrance to the 2nd floor administrative area and should be returned to that area after use.


Each of the rooms has a two-sided sign on the outside of the door that should be flipped to indicate that the room is in use to avoid being interrupted.  After use, the sign should be flipped to “not in use” and the door should be left open. Users are asked to please leave the respective rooms after use in the state they found them or better.

Finally, we take this opportunity to remind all graduate students of the two temporary-use private offices 3049 and 6051 for confidential meetings necessary for office hours, zooming, or grade discussion.  There are paper calendars on the doors to make written reservations. The doors should be left open when not in use.
