[COGS] FW: FSU Childcare: Thank you for your continued support and Invitation to participate

Hello representatives,

I am forwarding the information I received from Tiffany Karnisky at the FSU Childcare Center.

There are a few options for what you can submit for their virtual learning, but I thought it might be nice to either have a group reading of children’s books or individuals reading as well. I think if we could have one of the committees, or multiple, work on setting something up for COGS to submit that would be really awesome! Just let me know or reach out to committee members if you have any desire to take the lead on this.

If anyone has any other ideas, or wants to share this with their colleagues, feel free to do so!

Good Afternoon!
I hope that you all are doing well.  We want to share with you some exciting happenings in childcare as we continue to support and connect with the children and families during the stay at home order and COVID-19 outbreak.

Because children learn in a social environment,  social distancing is a hard concept for them to grasp.  What it means to them is missing school, their friends and their teachers.  In response to this the we have created a Family Connection site on Canvas.  Teachers are able to upload activities for families to continue their children’s education while at home, upload book readings and music time, as well as create virtual circle times and play dates with the children in their classes.   This allows the children to see that their friends and teachers are safe and gives them the opportunity to interact.

  *   You can self-enroll in the Canvas site at https://canvas.fsu.edu/enroll/DB67HK.
  *   If you or any member would like to submit a recording of yourself reading a book, telling a story, singing a song or sharing a special talent, we would love to upload your video to the site for the children.  Please feel free to email or dropbox me a video and I will get it uploaded.
