Important Dates & Deadlines

Tuesday, June 9: (Summer session C only) Last day to submit waivers or billings for Early Disbursement Financial Aid.

Wednesday, June 10:

  *   Last day to request change or cancellation of Summer Health Insurance.
  *   (Summer session C only) Last day to submit form requesting S/U grading or to change S/U option back to regular grade.
  *   (Summer session C only) Last day to reduce course load without permission of Academic Dean. Dean's permission required to drop below minimum hours.
  *   (Summer session C only) Last day for doctoral students to take and pass their preliminary examination in order to add or convert dissertation hours for the current semester.

Career Center Virtual Resources

The Career Center has a number of online resources designed to help you in your professional development and connect with potential employers. This includes the newly launched NoleNetwork, which is replacing Handshake. By creating a profiling and filling out your information, NoleNetwork will suggest jobs and internships that are relevant to you and your goals.

The Career Center is also providing assistance with resumes, cover letters, personal statements and more. You can schedule a session by emailing Dr. Kyle Roark<mailto:kroark at fsu.edu>. You can also participate in mock interviews over Zoom by scheduling a session through the NoleNetwork.

TOEFL iBT and GRE General Test Changes

ETS has announced that students impacted by the coronavirus will be able to take the TOEFL iBT and GRE General Test at home until test centers can be reopened. Testing will be conducted through the use of live remote proctoring.

Join FSU Libraries for a series of virtual dissertation writing retreats this summer! Each retreat allows dissertation and thesis writers to share writing space in an online environment. The purpose of the retreat is to provide a creative space where thesis and dissertation writers can be productive in a quiet group setting.

Those interested in learning about R can do so from the comfort of their home as we shift to online learning. Join Dr. Russell Almond and learn about the power of R.

The group also has a new challenge project. Dr. Almond has gained access to the COVID-19 database from John Hopkins University, so the group will be looking at how to access remote data from R, as well as thinking about what to do with modeling and visualiization.

Student Spotlight: Addie McConomy

Hometown: Naples, FL
Program: Special Education (Ph.D.)

Prior to enrolling in FSU's special education program, Addie worked as a classroom teacher and district professional development trainer for 9 years. She earned her B.S. from the University of South Florida in Special Education and is a National Board Certified teacher. Addie is supported by Project RAISE (Research-based Academic Interventions for Students with Extensive Support Needs). Her area of research interest is the implementation fidelity of high-leverage and evidence-based practices in classroom settings. At FSU, Addie is a member of the General Curriculum Access lab and participates in research in the area of mathematics problem solving for students with extensive support needs. She loves teaching, assessing students, and is developing an assessment tool for high-leverage practices. She is originally from Naples, Florida and enjoys visiting state parks with her family.
