This message is being distributed to all deans, department chairs, and graduate program directors. Please circulate to TAs and instructional staff.
Join us for four virtual (Zoom) sessions over a two week period where you'll get advice from experts, time to design your online course, and a chance to swap feedback and ideas with your peers.
[Summer 2020 PIE Online Course Design Boot-Camp]
What steps can you take now to ensure you have a successful online semester? Find time to work on the following: think through your course objectives & learning outcomes, set up your Canvas site, and create course activities and assessments. Join us for 4 virtual (Zoom) sessions over a two week period where you'll get advice from experts, time to design your online course, and a chance to swap feedback & ideas with your peers. Come prepared with either a course in development or a course that needs a makeover.
* The focus of each day’s first hour will be on expert facilitators introducing the concepts, tools, etc. The second hour will focus on providing time for participants to work on their own course, ask questions, and get help from the experts and/or each other.
Schedule – Summer 2020 PIE Online Course Design Virtual Boot-Camp
Week 1: Creating Realistic Course Objectives and Learning Outcomes, and Setting up your Canvas Site
Facilitator: Caity Kelly, MS, Instructional Systems & Learning Technologies, Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, FSU
Dates: Tuesday/Thursday, July 14th and 16th
Time: 10am-Noon on each day (7/14 and 7/16) All sessions via Zoom
Week 2: Designing Activities and Assessments to Meet Your Course Objectives
Facilitator: Dr. Vanessa Dennen, Professor of Instructional Systems & Learning Technologies in the Department of Educational Psychology & Learning Systems, FSU<https://education.fsu.edu/faculty-and-staff/dr-vanessa-paz-dennen>
Dates: Tuesday/Thursday, July 21st and 23rd
