TOEFL iBT and GRE General Test Changes

ETS has announced that students impacted by the coronavirus will be able to take the TOEFL iBT and GRE General Test at home until test centers can be reopened. Testing will be conducted through the use of live remote proctoring.

Fall 2020 Course: SCE 6742 - Modeling the Mind

This course is for graduate students interested in the study of cognitive structures and the dynamics of learning from multiple perspectives, in a variety of fields including education, psychology, and cognitive science. The course will cover several research traditions and influential approaches to modeling cognition and learning, focusing in particular on STEM disciplines. We will discuss the models' main features and underlying assumptions, engage in critical analysis of accounts of cognition, compare and contrast across models, and examine evidence that supports or challenges the models. We will examine how models of mind inform how researchers study students' reasoning and learning in STEM, including in the kinds of research questions they ask, the ways in which they pursue them, and their implications for instruction and assessment. We will supplement theoretical discussions with data to examine the affordances and constraints of various models in accounting for patterns and variabilities in students' reasoning.

Program: Sport Management (M.S.)

I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada and attended undergrad at Indiana University where my major was in Secondary English Education. I decided to go into the Sport Management master's program at FSU because I've always loved sport and I think I can combine my love of teaching and my love sport as a professor of Sport Management. I am currently a member of the Sport Management Student Association and my research interests surround the marketing and promotion of Niche Sports in America. In August I will be starting my PhD in Sport Management at FSU.
