Hi all,

After talking with Michelle Douglas from Human Resources about anonymous feedback, I have decided to get rid of our anonymous feedback qualtrics form. Instead, you should email me directly if you have anonymous feedback. FERPA rules mean that if you say that you want to remain anonymous, I am legally bound to keep you anonymous. (Even a Sunshine Laws request for emails would have to redact your name and email address!)

My reasons for getting rid of the online form are:


  1.
I think actual legal protection is better than creating the kind of DIY solution we have
  2.
When anonymous feedback requires that we act, we can't really do it because we don't know how to get necessary follow-up information (again, anonymously)

What does this mean for you?


  1.
The form will be disabled and we will get rid of the posters. Email me instead.
  2.
If you have submitted a concern via the form recently, please email me directly so I can follow up.

A last note: If you are ever worried about retaliation from a complaint, understand that FSU has very strict rules to protect you from retaliation. Of course, everyone realizes that real life is more complicated than that. The key thing to remember is that you can always choose to remain anonymous, which is a sure-fire way of avoiding having to deal with the risk of retaliation.
