[Art-instructors] Lockers for Students

Hey all,

As you may know, last year I took over assigning lockers to our students and this year I have enlisted my GA, Jaylin Pinkney, to help with this task. (Thanks Jaylin!)

Last year, we did this for all art students taking classes in FAB (or other locations but they want a locker in FAB). If you notice that I have inadvertently missed an instructor on this email, please feel free to share this info with them. And if you want a locker for yourself, send an email to Jaylin and me with the requested info.

I do not have any of the large wooden or free-standing lockers to give out. The only lockers available to assign are the RED ones located on the first, second and third floors. They are small but they can be great for storing an art box, closed toe shoes, smaller materials and hand tools, a bag, etc. (Several of the lockers are extremely dusty… probably from some past building construction, but again can be cleaned if your students want to make use of them.) They are free for the students to use. I typically assign them for the year and ask students to clean out by the end of spring semester. Otherwise contents will be thrown away in May.

Please post the locker announcement right away. This is made more manageable because we try to condense the volume of asks to a short period of time!

Please post the following message to your Canvas course letting students know they can request a locker:

As an Art student enrolled in this course, you are eligible to request one of the red lockers located on the first, second or third floors in FAB. The lockers are only 12 inches deep and will not hold portfolios or large pads of paper but are good to store materials, tools, closed toe shoes (3D/sculpture), bags, etc.

Lockers can be assigned for the semester or year (your choice). To request a locker, please send the following information to Jaylin Pinkney jp26s at fsu.edu<mailto:jp26s at fsu.edu> and copy Jean Shon jys24 at fsu.edu<mailto:jys24 at fsu.edu>:


  *   Your name:
  *   Your FSU email:
  *   Your phone number:
  *   Enrolled Course(s) & Instructor Name(s):
  *   Locker Location Request: (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Floor):
  *   Number of lockers requested: (typically 1)
  *   Do you want to keep this locker for the 2025-26 academic year? (Y/N)
     *   ("Yes" will be assigned through the end of April 2027 and “No" will be assigned only through December 11, 2026. After the assignment period ends please be sure to remove your belongings to avoid loss. Contents remaining after the assignment term will be discarded.)

If you are taking more than one class, you may request 2 lockers, especially if your courses are on different floors. Please be sure to include information for all courses above IF you are requesting more than one locker.
