Award season is here! Please encourage your best students to apply.
The announcement below has been shared with our BFA, BA, and MFA students. The application portal opens on November 1 and closes on November 13.
These awards are tailored for our exceptional Junior and Senior students who are pushing creative boundaries (the awards are open to all students, but we especially want to see Juniors and Seniors take advantage of this opportunity). If you know a student whose work truly shines, please champion their application. Your encouragement, guidance, and feedback can make a real difference in helping them succeed.

The Department of Art offers various awards to Studio Art students who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments, with award amounts ranging from $300 to $1,000. A strong application will significantly increase your chances of being selected!

Please note that all awards will be applied to your Financial Aid package. If you have specific questions about how the award will be applied, please contact the Financial Aid office directly.
All BA, BFA, and MFA Studio Art students in good academic standing and enrolled for the Fall 2025 – Spring 2026 terms are eligible to apply. Award recipients can expect the funds to be applied to their FSU accounts early in the Spring 2026 semester.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

After logging in, complete the General Application first, then proceed to the Art Award application. Both sections must be completed for your application to be considered. Full instructions can be found in the Awards Application Guidelines linked below.

To strengthen your application, follow these steps:

Artist’s Statement (150-300 words):

  *   Start with a brief bio and explain the core ideas behind your work.

Selecting Your Artwork (5-8 images):

  *   Ensure your images are well-photographed, under 2MB, and in jpg or png format.
  *   For videos, upload to Vimeo or YouTube and provide the link.
  *   Format still images to 1080x1080 pixels at 72dpi, with a black or white border.
  *   Poor photographic documentation will keep good work from being chosen.

Describing Your Artwork:

  *   Include the title, size, medium, and completion date for each image.
  *   Expand on the concepts mentioned in your Artist’s Statement.

Additional Achievements:

  *   Highlight any recent accomplishments or activities you want the faculty to know about. Include:
     *   Scholarships, residencies, and community projects
     *   Awards (name and date received)
     *   Volunteer work (activity and hours)
     *   Leadership roles in student organizations

Special Note: Completing this application may take several days and require focused effort. Investing time and thought will greatly improve your chances of success. Additionally, this preparation will be valuable for future award applications, both on and off campus.
