[Art-instructors] OPEN CALL PHOTO-BASED Student Exhibition

The Photography and Moving Image area in the Department of Art at Florida State University invites graduate and undergraduate students to submit work for a juried photo-based exhibition that will be held at the Fine Arts Building (FAB) Gallery in early spring 2026. The exhibition will open on January 15, 2026, with an awards ceremony during the reception, where selected artists will receive cash prizes. This call is open to all themes and processes. We welcome a wide range of approaches and techniques in image-making, including film photography, digital work, experimental projects, photo-objects, and photo installations.

Awards:
The following prizes will be awarded during the opening reception on January 15th.

  *   First place: $500
  *   Second place: $250
  *   Third place: $250
  *   Three Honorable Mentions: $100 each

Key Dates:

  *   Deadline to submit work: December 12
  *   Notification of acceptance: December 17
  *   Artwork drop-off (framed and ready-to-install) at FAB Gallery: January 8
  *   Opening reception and awards announcement: January 15 from 5:00-8:00 pm
  *   Closing reception: January 29
  *   Artwork pick-up: January 30

Submission Guidelines:

Who is eligible to apply:

  *   Anyone who is enrolled in an art class during the Fall 2025 semester.

How to apply:

  *   All applicants are required to email their artist statement and up to seven works.

Application Requirements:

  *   Email your artist statement along with your images to mbozorgi at fsu.edu<mailto:mbozorgi at fsu.edu> before December 12th. Email subject line should be “Photo Exhibition 2026.” Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
  *   Artist statement 200 words
  *   Image files with the following format:
  *   File Format: JPEG
  *   Image Size: 72 dpi and the longest side no more than 1000 pixels
  *   File Naming: submission number_last name_first name_image title_year_size
