Hi Folks:

Thought it would be useful to update you on editorials our Directors are having published in media sources. Below is one for Karen Fingerman.

Also wanted to share an initiative we are doing at our institute to help reconnect seniors. We are preparing instruction sets for seniors on how to sign up for a personal zoom account, schedule a meeting, and join a zoom meeting (PC and Mac versions). This is in the context of a train the trainers initiative to get seniors to volunteer to help put some of the senior center courses online, given that the local senior center is closed down. When ready, I’ll post a link to the instruction sets, likely on the ISL web site.

Best, Neil

Hi, all,

I published an Op Ed in USA Today this morning.

https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/04/07/coronavirus-seniors-lead-diverse-lives-death-rate-varies-column/2954897001/__;!!PhOWcWs!gqNcKv0Jn0BCJMRq0H4I31LuZq-O7L1WldEcgGALgJpNQm7QskKgpu2yPdtyluElj-B9Qcc$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2020/04/07/coronavirus-seniors-lead-diverse-lives-death-rate-varies-column/2954897001/__;!!PhOWcWs!njmtKNi3vneZmlgPTYJyLPyiyFpYufkMDuRt83-KVf9CVRYMl_GMwHzQAPznu2fBN_g$>

I wanted to get at the diversity in the older population- particularly as places like NYC, Detroit, and New Orleans are thinking about rationing care.

It’s a really important issue- especially for healthy folks in their 60s or 70s.

I’m grateful if you can help spread the word on this issue. Thank you!

Warmly,

Karen

PS: I have to also give credit to the Committee on Aging for the American Psychological Association. We had a 2 day Zoom conference Mar 20-21—And Kelly and I volunteered to go forward with communication in an Op Ed.

PPS: Media services at UT is amazing for placing it in a national outlet! So again- credit goes elsewhere. In fact- my role is pretty minimal- but the message is important. Thank you!
