WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:

* Identify and train early stage career scientists of diverse backgrounds who are committed to conducting African American aging research

* Improve the quality and quantity of research conducted with older African Americans



ELIGIBILITY:

* PhD, MD or equivalent degree, PhD candidates and advanced doctoral program graduate students
* US Citizen or permanent resident



STIPENDS: Up to 15 stipends will be awarded to those chosen to attend the 2019 Summer Training Workshop to help defray travel and hotel expenses. Awardees will be notified two weeks after the application deadline.

HOW TO APPLY: If you are interested in being considered for this workshop, please apply by providing electronic copies in a single PDF file of the following materials:

* A letter concisely describing your research plans with details about your current level of preparation for a research career. Please describe how participation in this workshop would contribute to your research career (3 page limit)

* Current curriculum vitae

* The name and phone number or email of a person who can comment on your research potential

* One copy of prior published or unpublished work that provides evidence of your potential for rigorous social science research (e.g. dissertation abstract, chapter, article, conference paper)
