Amart-l -- American Art History Discussion List

About Amart-l
English (USA)

Amart-l is a moderated electronic discussion group established in October 1994 at the City University of New York (CUNY) to provide a forum for scholars and professionals who study American art, artifacts and architecture from the colonial period to the present. The list moved to Florida State University in 2007. Amart-l's international membership embraces a wide variety of disciplines, including Art History, American Studies, Museum Studies, History, Cinema, Popular Culture, and Architecture, and members include college and university teachers, museum professionals, librarians, archivists, and independent scholars.

The primary purpose of Amart-l is to enable specialists with an American focus in these fields to discuss current research interests and museum exhibitions, test new ideas, and disseminate information and announcements of general interest to the list. Amart-l also hopes to promote the kinds of scholarly exchanges that tend to be confined to professional conferences.
