Caterina Gratton, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and a Faculty Affiliate of the Institute for Successful Longevity, has received an R01 grant from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
The grant will bring in $941,801 to support her work at FSU.
With this support, Gratton’s research team will use precision imaging to track how brain networks break down in individuals with Parkinson's Disease, with the goal of improving understanding of the variability across patients in cognitive, motor, and psychiatric symptoms seen in the disorder.
While Parkinson's Disease is best known for its motor symptoms, individuals with the disorder have a wide range of cognitive and psychiatric symptoms as well.
Gratton’s research project is a collaborative effort with Dr. Meghan Campbell and others in the Movement Disorders group at Washington University in St. Louis. The total grant value for the five-year project is $3 million.
