SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY Description The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences (DHSS) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville, TN is seeking to hire a Director of Clinical Education for the Master of Science in Speech Language-Pathology Program. This position is within the DHSS Graduate Studies office. This office, under the direction of the Vice Chair of Graduate Studies, has responsibility for student training and program accreditation across our M.S.-SLP, Au.D., MDE and Ph.D. programs. This position will support the M.S.-SLP training program. Other potential responsibilities related to the M.S.-SLP program include: 1) developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external clinical sites and supervisors, including supporting current and new affiliation agreements 2) coordinating internal and external observations, clinical experiences (short-term and externship) and simulations for graduate students, 3) supporting training in clinical supervision, 4) tracking student progress in meeting clinical education requirements and implementing remediation plans when needed 5) tracking student and program outcomes using various data management systems, 6) participating on committees at the department, school, university, and professional levels, 7) collaborating with the rest of the graduate studies office to ensure all activities are achieved. The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences is primarily housed on the main medical center campus, with multiple satellite clinics in the Nashville metropolitan area. Overall, our busy clinical enterprise in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences sees approximately 90,000 patient visits annually. In addition to serving patients, the department includes advanced training opportunities for M.S.-SLP students, including Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) and specialty tracks for childhood hearing loss, language and literacy in the schools and autism. Our academic programs are CAA accredited, and both the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology training programs are highly ranked (#1) by US News & World Report. Qualifications Applicants for this open rank, full-time, 12-month position must have a Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology or speech sciences, ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) and eligibility for clinical licensure in Tennessee. Applicants must have current or previous administrative and clinical experience in an SLP setting, outstanding communication and problem-solving skills and have knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students and the profession.
