[Seuce-cci] Charging for Univ telepractice?

We (TCU) are not charging for telepractice at this time. It is new to us (we have done only a handful of clients with tele) and so we felt it was not appropriate to charge. We are fortunate that several of our adjuncts who have private practices do telepractice. So that was a huge help to get things started. My positive… this forced telepractice on us and I foresee us continuing to do it in the future. We have families that drive 45 – 60 minutes (one way) for therapy.. so it will be a welcome services.

The issue, as has been noted, is that telesupervision requires 100% supervision. That is the big issue. We had 55% of our on campus clients continue with telepractice so that helped with scheduling. And as others have noted, we purchased SimuCase for all students in practicum to finish out spring. But only 75 hours can count towards simulation and thus that is a finite source. If this continues into summer (and eliminates summer externships) that is a whole different story!

Subject: [Seuce-cci] Charging for Univ telepractice?

Hello All,
Like many of you, we have had crash courses in telepractice and we are finishing out the semester of our on-campus clinic by using telepractice. We are not charging our clients' families for this service as we felt we certainly were not experts in telepractice and the families had not originally signed up to receive services via telepractice.

However, the decision has been made that we will be providing classes and clinic services online this summer as it is just too uncertain how long COVID-19 is going to keep us all sheltering in place. We would like to know if other University clinics are currently charging for telepractice services, or are going to be charging for these services as we move forward.

We appreciate any thoughts, advice, experiences, you have to share on this topic. While telepractice is not new....it's definitely new to us! Thank you all!
