Dear sir,
Besides being a doctor, I am also an amateur birder. (I dont travel far for
birding by take it seriously and scientifically).
A few years ago I clicked a colony of cormorants which are not fitting into
the species expected to be seen in terms of both apparent structure and
coloration. Since there are multiple birds in different angles and
directions, the color difference is not light as some eBird reviewers
suggested.
Hence I think morphometry would help compare the birds to species expected
in this part of the world.
Plan is to make standardised measurements of the beak and head and compare
the ratios to known species to determine if it falls within the variations
for those species.
I only have photographs and no reference rulers. Hence use of ratios.
I would be grateful if you can guide me
