Dear FSU Environmental Law students and graduates,

University of Florida - Sea Grant Florida is seeking a well-organized 3rd-year law student or recent law school graduate with superior research and writing capabilities to work with Florida Sea Grant attorney for 8-12 months, beginning in January 2021. Candidates with prior knowledge of private property rights protections, Florida comprehensive planning, and policy options for flood management and sea-level rise adaptation by local governments preferred.

The work will focus on three to four grant-funded projects. One is work with the Association of State Floodplain Managers to update the suite of legal materials available on their website. The others are projects in Florida, working with local governments on resilience, flooding, and sea-level rise adaptation projects. These involve reviewing comp plans, drafting recommendations for comp plan modifications, assistance in developing Adaptation Action Areas and related language, and also a project evaluating the costs and benefits to help determine recommended conservation lands in light of sea-level rise.

Institute for Energy Law Young Energy Professionals Committee Appointments

The Young Energy Professionals Committee is seeking individuals interested in serving in committee leadership roles from February 2021 to February 2022.



Committee positions available include Secretary, which normally progresses to Vice Chair and then Chair, six Leadership Council positions, and various subcommittee positions.



To be appointed, individuals must be and remain an IEL Advisory Board Member or an Young Energy Professionals Member in 2021. Individuals applying should generally be under 40 years or age, although the committee can consider individuals who have been licensed to practice for less than five years.
