Candidates with prior knowledge of private property rights protections, Florida comprehensive planning, and policy options for flood management and sea-level rise adaptation by local governments preferred. The work will focus on three to four grant-funded projects. One is work with the Association of State Floodplain Managers to update the suite of legal materials available on their website. The others are projects in Florida, working with local governments on resilience, flooding, and sea-level rise adaptation projects. These involve reviewing comp plans, drafting recommendations for comp plan modifications, assistance in developing Adaptation Action Areas and related language, and also a project evaluating the costs and benefits to help determine recommended conservation lands in light of sea-level rise. 10-25 hours per week depending on candidate's availability and project workload. $15/hour.
