For us, spring is always a season of great finishes and new beginnings ? starting with the graduation of our newest crop of Environmental Certificate and LLM graduates! We congratulate each of our students who walked the stage last month, not just on finishing the law school marathon but more importantly, on the start of their legal careers going forward. We take great pleasure in knowing that our graduates will be at the forefront of their field, and that the field will be better off for their forthcoming contributions. Programs We also celebrate the end of another fantastic season of environmental programming, headlined by two penetrating distinguished lectures?Professors Kirsten Engel on the growing importance of state environmental law and Robert Glicksman on the daunting challenges for federal environmental Law. We also hosted thought-provoking discussions with Professors Kamaile Turcan about the changing administrative law landscape and Alda Balthrop-Lewis on environmental ethics and religion. Our own Mark Seidenfeld hosted an engaging panel on energy law controversies with Professors Shelley Welton and James Coleman, and we finished the year with an event commemorating the launch of my new book, Law for the Land: The Public Trust Doctrine, Mono Lake, and a Quiet Revolution in Environmental Law. You can view all of these on our Program Events website, or by clicking the links below. Finally, it is also a season of great finishes and new beginnings on our team. After six years in this role that I have loved, this is my last as Associate Dean for Environmental Programs and as a member of the FSU faculty. Although I am excited to begin a new role at the University of Southern California, I leave FSU with my heart swelled with pride in our program?our outstanding team of faculty, staff, and administrators, and especially our wonderful students and alums, who have always been at the heart of what makes us who we are. The program will be well served as Dr. Shi-Ling Hsu returns to the role of ADEP, and as James Parker-Flynn continues in his new role as Assistant Dean for Specialized Education. It has been an honor to be part of this vibrant community?one that is genuinely hard to leave?and I look forward to remaining involved from the sidelines as a forever fan and booster of your ongoing successes! --Erin Ryan, Associate Dean for Environmental Programs Environmental Faculty Scholarship [https://image.lawmessages.fsu.edu/lib/fe3511717164077b711473/m/1/12588f8f-bf61-4db7-9430-ebbbd6644657.jpg] Shi-Ling Hsu D'Alemberte Professor Counting Animal Lives for Cost-Benefit Analysis, (with Jacob P.
