I'm Jim Noles; I'm a professor at Auburn University. I'm also on the Executive Committee of the Alabama Bar Association's Environmental Law section. Our section's annual meeting/conference will occur at Orange Beach, Alabama, on June 12, 2026, and one of our recent initiatives is to offer free attendance (and two nights lodging) at the conference to law students and would-be law students interested in practicing environmental law in Alabama after graduating. Personally, I think these scholarships have provided students with a great opportunity to get a deep dive into some current environmental issues, mix it up with practitioners from both sides of the aisle, and do some quality networking (at the beach!). Therefore, if you think any of your students might be interested in this opportunity (and can beat the rapidly approaching April 15 deadline!), please feel free to forward this email and its attachments along to whomever. I'm reaching out to help coordinate invitations to students who may be interested in exploring careers and opportunities in agricultural and food law. Glad to help however I can, and basic information is set out below. On June 4-5, the National Agricultural Law Center (NALC) & the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Foundation will host the 13th Annual Mid-South Ag & Environmental Law Conference at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. The annual "Mid-South" is a premiere legal education and networking opportunity for attorneys, students, and other ag professionals. The program itself is on June 5, featuring a keynote address by USDA Deputy Secretary Judge Stephen Vaden, along with an excellent lineup of speakers and topics. Agenda and related information is available on the NALC website at https://nationalaglawcenter.org/midsouth2026/. (There is also an "Early Bird" bonus online program available May 13 for those who register by May 12.) On the afternoon of June 4, we will host the Ag & Food Law Student Roundtable for students interested in agriculture and food law issues or careers. The Roundtable will include a Q&A panel with NALC staff, a panel on career paths in ag & food law, and a session on AI & legal research. There is a reduced student rate, but we can waive the registration fee for any students who need that. The attached is a social media graphic that we are using to help publicize the Roundtable. I hope you're able to help publicize this opportunity to students, and please feel free to reach out and let me know how I can help in any way at all. Thanks!
