These internships provide valuable work experience and potential post-graduation employment opportunities, as well as exposure and contacts to other employers in the D.C. area and other major cities. Today, I write to let you know about approaching deadlines to apply for spring, summer, and fall clerkships with the U.S. Department of Justice - Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD). ENRD handles environmental and natural resources litigation on behalf of the United States. The Division is organized into nine litigating sections and one Executive Office. The Executive Office provides administrative support to ENRD including financial management, human resources, security, technology, and litigation support. The Division protects the Nation's natural resources and handles cases related to the rights and resources of federally recognized Indian Tribes. It works to improve public health and provide other benefits to the American people through the reduction of pollution. Law clerks assist ENRD's trial attorneys in litigating cases in federal district and appellate court and advising the Assistant Attorney General on environmental legal and policy questions. Responsibilities typically include conducting legal research, assisting the discovery and drafting pleadings, discovery requests, motions and legal memoranda dealing with a variety of federal environmental and natural resource issues. For more information, please see the attached brochure and eligibility/deadline information below this message, or visit https://www.justice.gov/enrd/internships Should you have any further questions or needing assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to Dean Debra Henley of Career Services and Professional Development (dhenley at law.fsu.edu). Candidates, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Office of the Chief Counsel selects a limited number of graduating law students and judicial law clerks to participate in the Civilian Honors Program. The Program offers new attorneys challenging work, significant responsibility, and unparalleled development opportunities to serve the public. Through the Chief Counsel's Civilian Honors Program, U.S. ACE place highly qualified candidates in full-time legal positions throughout our 50+ offices worldwide as positions become available. The Florida office is located in Jacksonville, FL. Nearby offices include Savannah, GA and Mobile, AL. The applicant gets to choose where they want to be placed. If the applicant only wanted us to consider them for a position in Europe or South Korea, then we would only consider them for those offices. Similarly, a FSU graduate is more likely to end up in Jacksonville, Savannah and Mobile if they select that they want to work in one of those offices. The Honors Program position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is an amazing work opportunity right out of law school. Should you be interested, please note that the deadline for application is on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Attached is the Chief Counsel's Civil Honors Program Brochure.
