One Wednesday, in addition to our enrichment talk at 12:30 pm in Room 208 (Professor Huber), the University is hosting Robert Bullard, who really is the person who jump-started the Environmental Justice movement. Building Just and Sustainable Communities in the Era of Climate Change

All students, faculty and staff, as well as the general public, are invited to a special talk by Dr. Robert Bullard, known as “The Father of Environmental Justice,” sponsored by Sustainable Campus, in partnership with the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, Union Productions, and the FSU Office of Student Sustainability.

Wednesday, March 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Doors open 6:00 p.m., talk from 7:00-8:00, Book signing 8:15-9:00
Ruby Diamond Auditorium Free and open to all

Dr. Bullard will speak on Building Just and Sustainable Communities in the Era of Climate Change, a reflection of his dedication to and passion for the intersectionality of social justice, the environment, human health, racial equity, and urban planning.

Bullard is the Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University, co-founder of the HBCU Climate Change Consortium and an award-winning author of 18 books on race, equity and environmental justice. He was one of the organizers of the first National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit in 1991.

The first 100 FSU students to arrive for the event will receive a free copy of The Wrong Complexion for Protection, the acclaimed 2012 book by Bullard and Beverly Wright, founding director of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice. Bullard will autograph the book after his lecture. Additional copies will be available for purchase.
