Greetings,

This is a reminder that the power to the Sliger Datacenter will be shut-off over the upcoming holiday weekend.

Sliger Building and the Data Center power will be shut off at 8:00 am this Friday, May 28.

We will be sending out email notification to you all on Tuesday afternoon, June 1, when power has been restored, or if anything unexpected arises.

For those of you who have told us your equipment absolutely must remain up during this time, we have been in contact and made arrangements with you to switch to Generator power before the May 28 outage. We will be available Tuesday afternoon June 1, and on Wednesday, June 2, to switch your equipment back to normal City power.

We have individually contacted all others, and advised you to either power down your equipment remotely, or let us know when you plan to arrive before the outage to power down your equipment. Likewise, please tell us if you will require assistance with bringing up your equipment after receiving notification that power has been restored on June 1.

Please make sure that other staff and leadership in your organization are aware of this outage. Feel free to forward this message to anyone that you believe is appropriate.

Dear Mitch,

Contacting you to find out bit more information concerning Sliger power outage. We have requested to have few of our servers on generator and have confirmation email from Paul Van Der Mark back in January but haven’t had any contact or further information concerning generator use.

For us to plan correctly, do we have to physically move our servers to a different rack/location while on generator power? Wondering on how generator power will work so we can adjust and pre-plan for the dates.

Let me know and apologies if I should be using support at rcc.fsu.edu<mailto:support at rcc.fsu.edu> address.

Best,

Subject: [Its-colocation-customers] Sliger Building Power Outage Rescheduled For May 28 - June 1

Dear Sliger Co-location Customers,

Everyone who has ever done a major renovation or built their own house has run into the issue of manufacturers not being able to deliver equipment on-time. We are running into the same issue for the Sliger renovation project. The vendor, Square D, will not be able to deliver critical electrical switch gear on-schedule for the planned downtime.

What does this mean for you?
We need to reschedule our planned outage of the Sliger building. Instead of starting on April 28, the building outage will commence on Friday, May 28th (Memorial Day weekend).

The power will be shut off to the Sliger Building at 8:00 AM on Friday, May 28th, and turned back on again on the afternoon of June 1. If you have made prior arrangements with us to retain emergency generator power for your equipment, then we will contact you directly to work with you about rescheduling around these new dates.

You are advised to gracefully power off your equipment before COB on Thursday, May 27th. Let us know if you will need to be on-site to either power down your equipment on that day or to bring it back up after power is restored on the afternoon of June 1.

Our apologies for this inconvenience. We have tried to anticipate these kinds of delays in our planning, but we have no control over these kinds of supply chain issues.

Revised Schedule Summary
The schedule will now be as follows:

  * Thursday, May 27; 8am - Temporary power generator online; RCC staff on-site to assist departments in powering off or transferring their systems onto the generator
  *   Friday, May 28; 8am - Tues, June 1 - Downtime
  * Tuesday, June 1; noon - Power and HVAC restored and running; RCC staff on-site all afternoon to assist departments with switching equipment back to permanent power
  * Wednesday, June 2; 8am - 5pm - RCC staff on site all day to assist departments transition remaining equipment back to permanent power
