The UF+FSU Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Hub is pleased to announce the launch of the 2025–26 CTS Pilot Award Program (Cycle 1). This intramural funding mechanism supports innovative, interdisciplinary research that advances clinical and translational science (CTS) through the development of reusable tools, methods, frameworks, and scalable resources.

Projects involving human or animal subjects must have IRB/IACUC approval and NIH Prior Approval by June 1, 2026. This is a 12‑month award with no-cost extensions not permitted.
Program Purpose
The CTS Pilot Program funds projects that develop and test reusable CTS tools that can be applied across multiple settings, populations, or study designs. Priority areas include:
* Enhancing multisite clinical trial efficiency
* Reducing participant burden
* Accelerating translation into clinical and community settings
* Expanding access to novel data and methods
* Advancing AI/ML tools, digital twins, measurement frameworks, and data linkages
* Improving implementation, change management, and workforce development
* Supporting tools that enhance reproducibility, scalability, and translational impact
Cross-institutional collaborations between UF (Gainesville/Jacksonville) and FSU are strongly encouraged.
Eligibility
Eligible Principal Investigators must hold a UF or FSU faculty appointment (assistant, associate, or full professor, including research and clinical faculty).
Co-investigators may include lecturers, instructors, research scientists, and trainees.
Applicants may submit only one proposal as PI. Previous awardees may apply with a new, distinct project.
Budget
* Award Amount: $25,000 – $50,000 in total direct costs
* Up to eight pilot awards will be funded
* Funds must be fully expended within the 12 month period
* No F&A costs, no cost-sharing, and no mixed funding sources
* Faculty salary, tuition, major equipment, computers, software, and travel/conference expenses are not allowable
* CTSI service costs will be provided as non-transferable credit
Application Process
1. LOI (Required) Due February 20, 2026: Submission includes:
* 1‑page Letter of Intent (title, PI information, aims, overview)
* NIH SciENcv biosketch for the PI
* Submit to: CTSI_Pilot-Awards-l at lists.ufl.edu
1. Full Application (By Invitation Only) Invited applicants must participate in both:
* CTS Pilot Design Studio
* R‑Connect Feasibility Review

Review Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
* Significance of the CTS gap addressed
* Innovation and scientific contribution
* Investigator team strength
* Feasibility and methodological rigor
* Scalability and potential for broader CTS impact
* Likelihood of future NIH or competitive funding
* Effective use of hub resources and stakeholder engagement
