We are happy to announce our next Brown Bag Lecture Series Talk with Dr. Qian "Jackie" Zhang on November 5th at 12 PM. This Brown Bag Lecture will be held completely online.


Title: Causal Mediation Analysis



Abstract: The lecture will introduce Causal Mediation Analysis, a critical methodological approach employed across various social science domains, including psychology, health, and family studies, to elucidate the mechanisms by which interventions achieve their effects. This lecture is structured for researchers and practitioners with minimal to no prior exposure to the topic. The content will include a beginner-friendly overview of causal inference, a discussion of the key assumptions required for estimating causal effects, and an introduction to core methods of causal mediation analysis. Participants will acquire the essential knowledge base for methodologically examining treatment effect pathways and informing the refinement of intervention strategies.



Bio: Dr. Qian (Jackie) Zhang is a quantitative methodologist whose research addresses core issues across the social sciences. She actively collaborates on projects spanning psychological, educational, and medical domains. Dr. Zhang's expertise covers a wide range of pressing topics critical for applied researchers, including Causal Inference, Longitudinal Analysis, Mediation and Moderation Analysis, Machine Learning for Variable Selection, Missing Data, Meta-Analysis, Within-Person Effects, and Multilevel Data Analysis. Her rigorous quantitative work is consistently published in top-tier journals. For her significant early-career achievements, Dr. Zhang was honored with the Anne Anastasi Distinguished Early Career Contributions Award from the American Psychological Association.
