Subject: New Colloquium Series: Exploring GenAI in Research

Hi Everyone - We are excited to announce an upcoming colloquium series, "Exploring GenAI in Research" as a collaborative initiative hosted by the College of Social Work (CSW) and the FCRR Innovation Committee. This series aims to create awareness about the transformative potential of AI, explore how it is being used at FSU, and facilitate meaningful discussions among faculty and staff. The GenAI Series will be held weekly from February 26 - May 14 from 12:30pm - 1:30pm and will feature a diverse lineup of presentations and discussions led by experts and users from across the university. Topics will include:

  * Gen AI as a Teaching Assistant (Paul Marty, School of Information, Feb 26)
  * AI Detection Methods (Ken Hanson, College of Arts and Sciences, Mar 5)
  * Gen AI as a Research Assistant (Eric Liguori, Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, Mar 19)
  * Gen AI and K12 Education (Carrie Meyers and Jim Reynolds, Learning Systems Institute, Mar 26)
  *
Gen AI for Image/Video Generation (Keith Roberson, Department of Art, Apr 2)
  *
Gen AI and Quantitative Research (Yaacov Petscher, College of Social Work, Apr 9)
  *
Gen AI and Academic Integrity (Joshua Morgan, Faculty Development and Advancement, Apr 16)
  *

  * Gen AI and Qualitative Data Analysis (Solveig Brown and Rashad Aziz, Campus Reimagined Initiative, May 14)

This series is designed to inspire innovation, foster collaboration, and provide practical insights into how AI can enhance research.

Presenters will talk for up to 20min and the remainder of the time will be discussion among attendees about their questions, ways they are thinking about using AI in that way, and learn from each other about the opportunities for using AI in our work.

Whether you are new to AI or already exploring its applications, this series will offer valuable perspectives and opportunities for discussion. As we are finalizing our planning, we are hoping to capture the potential attendees for each session so that we can make room for as many as possible. Please fill out the Google form below signaling interest in which one(s) you'd like to attend. We will be following up with more details on location. Faculty and students are welcome!
