Subject: Help needed: Engaging FSU community in Opening Minds Through Arts Lecture and workshops next week!!

Hi Friends and Colleagues -

I'm looking for help and suggestions to invite the right FSU folks to attend a lecture the CPC is hosting next week. I'm particularly interested in folks with an interest in arts therapy, mindfulness, loneliness/social engagement, intergenerational engagement, and/or dementia interventions. Do you have suggestions (names/emails)? Or feel free to forward this email to any folks you think should be included if that's easier.

Description:
This Fall, the Claude Pepper Center (CPC) launched a new program called Opening Minds through Arts (OMA) - an evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people living with dementia that allows older people living with dementia opportunities for self-expression and social engagement. See info, pictures and videos of the FSU-OMA program: https://claudepeppercenter.fsu.edu/opening-minds-through-art/.

Next week, we are hosting OMA founder Elizabeth Lokon and her team members Meghan Young and Krysta Peterson (see attached flyer for details). The OMA team will provide a lecture about this art-making program and describe a new online intervention platform they recently developed - "ScrippsAVID." ScrippsAVID leverages key strengths of the in-person OMA program but focuses on those in community settings with all levels of cognitive function and has potential to reduce loneliness and dementia risks. I believe there is great potential to partner with the Scripps team and seek funding to test the ScrippsAVID platform as a dementia intervention.

We are also hosting two hands-on workshops for folks to see what the in-person OMA program looks like - one will be on Thursday the 18th from 10:30-11:30 and the second will be Friday the 19th from 3-4 pm. Participants will create an abstract art project using the no-fail OMA "recipe."
Heads up - there could be glitter involved...

Please let me know who you think is important to invite to these events and who I should reach out to! Thank you!!!
