ACL Awards 2023-2026 Older Adults’ Equity Collaborative Cohort

ACL has awarded approximately $3.6 million in combined funding to continue the work of the Older Adults’ Equity Collaborative (OAEC). Established in 2020, the OAEC is a group of national Minority Aging Technical Assistance and Resource Centers (TARCs) that each focus on serving a unique community. Together, they work to ensure access and equity across aging services programs by providing technical assistance to the aging services network. To promote and support collaboration, coordination, and cross-cutting efforts among the OAEC organizations, ACL also funds a coordinating center. The new grantee cohort of five TARCs and the coordinating center is funded for three years, from September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2026.

  *   National Caucus and Center on Black Aging, Inc.
  *   National Hispanic Council on Aging
  *   The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
  *   National Indian Council on Aging
  *   Services and Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Elders, Inc (SAGE)
  *   The New York Academy of Medicine (coordinating center)

Older adults and the family caregivers who support them are uniquely diverse — ethnically, racially, and culturally — and face additional challenges as they age. They may face many challenges, including poverty, inadequate housing, social isolation, a lack of culturally competent care, and limited linguistically appropriate services.

The OAEC will work to design and deliver training, technical assistance, and tools to improve access, consistency, quality, and sustainability of aging services that support diverse older adults.
