Hi all,
This is just a friendly reminder for those that might be interested, our fall speaker, Karen Roberto from Virginia Tech is visiting us this week. On November 7, at 2 p.m., the Institute for Successful Longevity will hold a community discussion on elder abuse at Killearn United Methodist Church, 2800 Shamrock Street South<https://goo.gl/maps/whgXHyiDqozsMuH37>, in Tallahassee's Killearn Estates neighborhood. The event will be held in the Epworth Fellowship Hall.
Leading the community discussion will be a distinguished panel of experts on aging and longevity:
* Karen A. Roberto, Ph.D., director of Virginia Tech's Institute for Society, Culture and Environment and Senior Fellow at the Center for Gerontology.
* Alice Pomidor, M.D., professor of geriatrics in Florida State University's College of Medicine.
* Lauchlin T. Waldoch, a Tallahassee attorney specializing in elder law.
* Neil Charness, Ph.D., professor of psychology and director of FSU's Institute for Successful Longevity.
Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions and engage these experts on elder abuse, an issue of growing concern.
The following day, November 8, at 4 p.m., Professor Roberto will speak on a serious but often overlooked problem facing some seniors in her talk, "Elder Abuse and the Opioid Crisis."
Dr. Roberto will speak in the Broad Auditorium of the Claude Pepper Center, 636 W. Call St.<https://map.concept3d.com/?id=1235#!m/345339>, on the Florida State University campus. The public is invited, and valet parking will be provided.
