Our Lecture Series, as always is centered around the concept of Successful Longevity-not just how to live longer, but how to live better as we age. We are looking for individuals at ACC Universities, other than FSU, who you think would provide interesting and relevant material concerning Successful Longevity. In the past, some of our speakers have tackled topics concerning Aging Self-Stereotypes, Caregiving, Brain Training Programs, Exercise as Regenerative Medicine, Designing Technology for Older Adults, and compensation Processes of the Aging Brain. The lecture series is not limited to these topics, but must be within the scope of Successful Longevity. Did this jog your memory? Do you think you may know someone who'd be interested, or a perfect person for this event? Please reply to this email with your suggested speaker and a link to their lab/university page. Do NOT "Reply All" to this email! Please only include people from ACC schools. Please do not suggest our past/recent speakers of ISL supported events (Levy, Schultz, Simons, McLaughlin, Bamman, Cabeza, or Waite) or those from FSU. Past suggestions are welcome as long as the speaker was not previously booked. Please submit your suggestions by 5PM February 19. We will gather more suggestions at the Affiliates meeting on February 20 and send out a poll by that Thursday so you all can vote! The purpose of this program is to promote collaboration between FSU research faculty by providing funding for a new direction or continuing support of existing research or creative activity, with the goal being that the project will improve the opportunity for successful longevity in aging populations. Message-ID: Hello Affiliates, As you know, ISL has made it one of our missions to make Florida State University a more Age Friendly University, but we know that things can always be better. Over the past few months, ISL has been dedicated to finding ways to improve our campus. At the annual Gerontological Society of America (GSA) convention in November, we met with directors of other aging research institutions and came across a common theme that seemed to impede older adults' involvement on campus: Accessibility. When we approached you all at our last Affiliates Meeting in December, we found that the same theme rang true, so we wanted to get to the bottom of this. We have been busy developing an assessment that could help us identify some key issues regarding older adults and their accessibility to FSU's campus. We are hoping to identify major problems areas, helpful current aids already in place, and possible solutions. Your input as an affiliate with ISL is vital! We will be using your data in tandem with data from our ISL Research participants. If you have a moment to fill out this survey, we would greatly appreciate it! It should take you between 10-15 minutes. We will be closing this survey at 5PM on March 31, 2019. Please note that this is only available online and a paper copy cannot be provided. If you have any issues while completing this survey, please contact ISL tech support at isl at fsu.edu.
