Hi Folks:
Both a call for reviewers as well as information about the catalyst award competition for healthy longevity. I think several of you are probably well-poised to serve in either role and as usual please contact Callie about setting up a meeting to discuss the awards further.
Best, Neil

Subject: NAM Healthy Longevity Global Competition
Hello Dr. Charness,
I attended the Mobile Technology for Adaptive Aging workshop last week and enjoyed your presentation. I am a Program Officer with the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), managing the recently launched Healthy Longevity Global Competition<https://urldefense.com/v3/__http:/www.healthylongevitychallenge.org/__;!!PhOWcWs!hlMlxfieNvSfPcAlxocTGTphJNpU6gaj1xJUgvZZWJ1KYm5rQXRUUc7l76g3lCK5how$>. This is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar international competition that aims to accelerate breakthroughs in healthy longevity; it is open to innovators of any background or discipline. The first phase of the Competition, the Catalyst Awards, starts in early January. The NAM is giving out up to 24 Catalyst Awards per year in 2020-2022; each award includes a $50,000 cash prize and travel costs to an annual Innovator Summit. Applications are only 2 pages in length.
I am reaching out to kindly ask if you would be willing to 1) nominate reviewers and/or circulate our call for reviewers (now) and 2) circulate our call for applications to your network (in early January). I am specifically hoping to get more involvement from folks in the social sciences - as reviewers and as applicants.
Reviewer Nominations
Through early January, we are continuing to diversify our reviewer pool. Ideal reviewers will be broad, "out-of-box" thinkers with a history of creativity and innovation. We welcome nominations from all disciplines but are seeking experts from the social and behavioral science, demography, architecture, economics, social work, international development, public policy, urban planning and development, engineering, computer science, and design fields in particular. If it is helpful, I've included some language below in yellow that you can use when reaching out to your network as well as an overview of the Competition (attached). Folks can self-nominate and/or nominate a colleague by completing the Online Reviewer Nominations Form<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.surveygizmo.com/s3/5147224/ReviewerNominations__;!!PhOWcWs!hlMlxfieNvSfPcAlxocTGTphJNpU6gaj1xJUgvZZWJ1KYm5rQXRUUc7l76g3U8JHHhE$> (alternately, they can email me the person's name, affiliation, and email address).
The review task isn't intended to be time-consuming - there's no detailed scoring rubric or commentary. The applications are just 2 pages in length. Reviewers identified through this call would complete their task in March-April 2020.
Promoting the NAM Catalyst Award Competition
Starting in early-mid January, the NAM aims to promote the Competition beyond the biomedical and aging fields to solicit creative applications from across disciplines. If you are willing to help promote the Competition, or can connect us to persons/organizations that could help do so, I will loop in my NAM communications colleagues. They can share social media posts, graphics, etc. If you have any suggestions for individuals, organizations, professional associations, academic centers/institutes, etc. that might be helpful in raising awareness about the Competition, please let me know.
Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated!
Kind regards,
Michele

Dear Colleagues:
The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) is soliciting nominations for reviewers of the US NAM Catalyst Awards and would greatly appreciate your help identifying prospective reviewers. Ideal reviewers will be broad, "out-of-box" thinkers with a history of creativity and innovation.
