Below is a list of pending approvals in OMNI. Although the deadline for approvals is noon today (EST), we are providing advance notice of those still pending at approximately 11:30 a.m. so that they might be done by noon and your first Cost Center Report will be more accurate. Unapproved time and leave entries will not appear on the Cost Center Report. Please note that the "Pending Approvals" number reflects the entries needing approval, not separate employees. The data is intentionally conveyed in this manner so you know how many time entry approvals require your attention. For example, if an employee reported 3 days of vacation, that employee's unapproved time will be counted 3 times so that you know how many entries you should approve. This is especially helpful if the leave was taken over multiple workweeks. As you are aware, if each entry for an individual employee is not approved or corrected, the employee's pay will be affected. Questions? Contact an Attendance & Leave representative. Florida State University is participating in the Tallahassee Future Leaders Academy (TFLA) this summer. The TFLA program is sponsored by the City of Tallahassee, which partners with area organizations to provide summer jobs for local youth (ages 15-19). The program provides community youth with work experience, professional development, and mentorship. We encourage you to watch the employer and youth testimonials to learn more about their experiences. Details The program runs from June 16-August 1 and entails: * Seven weeks of employment with an FSU department at 20 hours per week. Wages are centrally funded at no cost to the participating department. * Skills development through on-the-job experience and program seminars focused on personal growth, professional development, and financial literacy. * Mentorship from a caring department manager focusing on improving interpersonal skills and enhancing self-confidence and self-esteem. Get Involved We are looking for departments to host a TFLA student. If your department is interested, please email a brief statement of interest to the contact listed below outlining: * Your department's interest in hosting a TFLA student. * The nature of the job you will provide. Note: you must have availability to host from June 16 to August 1 for 20 hours per week. * The anticipated learning outcomes related to leadership and professional development from your position. * Contact information of someone who will serve as the student's supervisor. Important Reminders for Supervisors TFLA is a mentorship employment program. TFLA students are not eligible for remote work. By hosting a student, you are committing to being physically present to provide supervision and mentorship. * Student availability may not always line up with a hybrid work schedule. This may mean adjusting your remote schedule during the program. Please do not request a student if you cannot supervise them on your remote days. * If you have scheduled leave, you may have one backup supervisor designated. * You will be responsible for working with the backup designee to ensure the student is supervised. * Both supervisors are required to have a recent Level 2 background check, which is funded by Central HR. Statements of interest are due by Thursday, March 6. You will be contacted with additional details if your department is selected for participation. This is a fantastic opportunity to invest in our local community and cultivate future leaders. We hope you'll get involved! Now that all faculty salary increases for the 2024-2025 academic year have been implemented, faculty contracts should be regenerated to reflect the updated salaries in OMNI HR in accordance with the FSU/UFF Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Step-by-step instructions on regenerating faculty contracts in OMNI HR can be found on the HR website. Additional faculty contract information is available on the HR Faculty Relations website. General Process * Faculty contracts are generated online, reviewed by the generator for accuracy, and submitted to be approved and acknowledged electronically via workflow in OMNI HR. * Once approved by the appropriate Dean, Director, or Department Head (DDDH), the contract will automatically route to the faculty member for approval. * Email notifications are sent when the contract is ready for the DDDH's or faculty member's review. * Faculty members electronically sign their contracts in OMNI HR. * Contracts will automatically populate to the faculty member's personnel file once fully approved and signed electronically. Reminders * As always, review faculty contracts carefully for accuracy. If a contract contains inaccurate information, there may be an error in the faculty member's OMNI HR records. Please submit the appropriate paperwork to correct any errors before submitting the contract for electronic approval. * For specialized faculty on four-year, multi-year appointments (MYAs) that received salary increases and are in the first year of the contract, contracts must be regenerated. For contracts in the second year, use the ad hoc process to generate an updated contract. OMNI HR will only generate the remaining three years on the four-year MYA in year two. Questions? Department Representatives and Hiring Managers 2025 Summer Camp Background Checks The 2025 Summer Camp season is approaching, and preparations must be made soon. Summer Camp background checks are conducted and adjudicated by The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) through the Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse as mandated by Florida Statute 409.175. They require all new and returning summer camp personnel (owners, operators, administrative staff, employees, and volunteers) who provide care to minors to be screened and determined eligible by DCF via a Level 2 Fingerprint-based Background Check prior to working, training, or volunteering for the camp. All FSU-sponsored Summer Camps and camps held on FSU campuses must comply with DCF Background Screening requirements. If made aware of external Summer Camps utilizing FSU facilities, or if external campers may interact with FSU personnel, please contact Andrew Kapec in HR for best practices and next steps. Summer Camps held virtually still require a background check due to the live virtual interaction. Please coordinate with the HR Background Check Team to submit the Summer Camp Roster appropriately. Please advise all camp volunteers and staff to complete the Protection of Vulnerable Persons (PVP) training linked below. Human Resources also provides customized PVP training for staff groups via Zoom and in person. This training provides additional information on FSU expectations and resources.
